Retired Jerseys

A jersey retirement at Loudonville High School may occur if a student-athlete is considered to have achieved status as the top individual competitor in their team sport, in the state of Ohio – based off of the following criteria:

· Recognized as the State Player of the Year by the lead media sportswriters organization in Ohio (OPSWA).

· Recognized as the State Player of the Year by the coaches association in their sport.

Student-athletes are not expected to meet both of the above listed criteria for a jersey retirement, but they must meet at least one of them. The student-athlete whose jersey is being retired, must be in good standing with the Athletic Department.

When considering jersey retirements – team sports will include Volleyball, Soccer, Football, Basketball, Baseball and Softball.

Individual state champions in the sports of Cross Country, Golf, Wrestling, Swimming and Track and Field will continue to be recognized for their accomplishment with a banner in the gymnasium.

Other outstanding student-athletes and contributors at Loudonville High School will continue to be recognized by the All-Sports Hall-of-Fame and through other efforts by the Athletic Department.

Measures equivalent to retiring a jersey, such as placing a picture or a plaque in other areas, such as fine arts, career and technology programs, or academics, where a student achieves a substantial distinction may be addressed between the LHS Principal and Superintendent; following similar standards.
